Our Mission

The Stoneham Figure Skating Club (SFSC) was established in October of 1976 as a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization to promote the sport of amateur figure skating.  Revenues generated through the Club’s operations and fundraising activities are used to fulfill this mission.

About Us

The Club is a sanctioned member of US Figure Skating, the governing body for the sport of US figure skating.  An elected 12- member Board of Governors charged with effectively managing all aspects of the Club’s operations governs SFSC.  The Club provides group instruction for the recreational skater; private ice for recreational and competitive skaters; US Figure Skating test sessions; an Annual Ice Revue, along with a host of educational and outreach activities throughout the year.  For more than a quarter of a century, the SFSC has taught children and adults to skate on the Club’s “home ice” at the Stoneham Arena.

CLICK FOR APPLICATION

The SFSC provides group and semi-private instruction through the US Figure Skating’s Basic Skills Badge program.  The Badge Program encompasses the fundamentals of figure skating (Basic 1-8) for the beginner skater, and freestyle skating (Freestyle 1-6) for the intermediate and advanced skater.  The Club offers group instruction to skater ages 3½ through adult.

Classes consist of 25 minutes of instruction and a 25-minute free skate to allow skaters to hone their new skills.  Group, semi-private, and minipatch classes are typically offered in 10-week sessions beginning in September, November, January and April.  All sessions are pro- rated to allow the flexibility of joining at any time.  Group skaters enrolled in the Winter I and Winter II sessions are eligible to participate in the Club’s Annual Ice Revue in April—a full-scale production showcasing talent of our group and private skaters.
